There are several types of pipes commonly used in pool plumbing systems, each with its own characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages. Here are some of the most common types of pipes used in pool plumbing:

1. PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride):

   • Rigid PVC: This is one of the most commonly used materials for pool plumbing. It is lightweight, durable, and relatively inexpensive. Rigid PVC pipes come in various diameters and lengths and are suitable for both above-ground and in-ground pools.
   • Flexible PVC: Also known as “Flex PVC” or “Flex pipe,” this type of PVC is more flexible than rigid PVC and is often used for short runs or in situations where a certain degree of flexibility is required, such as around tight corners.

2. CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride):

   • CPVC pipes are similar to PVC pipes but are specifically designed to withstand higher temperatures. They are often used for the plumbing of hot tubs, spas, and other heated pool installations.

3. Polyethylene (PE):

   • High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE): HDPE pipes are known for their strength, flexibility, and resistance to corrosion and chemicals. They are commonly used for underground pool plumbing because they can withstand soil movement and pressure changes without cracking.
   • Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE): LDPE pipes are more flexible and less rigid than HDPE pipes. They are sometimes used for above-ground pool plumbing or for short runs where flexibility is important.
